Where Tradition Meets Innovation: Kontoyianni Family Winery

Nestled 18 miles south of Athens, Kontoyianni Family Winery sits at the heart of the Mediterranean wine region, where Greek winemaking traditions intertwine seamlessly with modern techniques. Since its founding in 1961, this small family business has been dedicated to crafting exceptional white wines sourced from the diverse terroirs of Attica. With an unwavering commitment to quality, the winery boasts a production capacity of 18,000 hectoliters, its own bottling line, and an in-house oenology laboratory.

Today, the second generation of the Kontoyianni family proudly carries the torch. Under the leadership of Mary Kontoyianni and her husband, Scott D’Arcy, the winery has embraced a fresh perspective while preserving the unique essence of traditional Greek wines. Scott, a Scotsman with a background in civil engineering and a master’s degree in project management, brings a meticulous approach to winemaking. Together, the couple blends passion and precision, crafting wines that reflect their heritage with a contemporary flair.

A turning point in the winery’s journey came in 2007 when Kontoyianni Family Winery earned its first awards, medaling in national and international wine competitions. These awards marked a new era, showcasing the winery’s ability to surprise and delight even the most discerning palates.
